Walking The Sands of Life
Posted in Miscellaneous on 04/01/2009 12:05 am by adminIn early March I had the good fortune to visit Las Vegas, NV to teach Reiki I & II to my eager students! They did great and are now very good Reiki Practitioners!
Before I went to Las Vegas it was messaged to me during a Reiki Session that I should drive into the desert and connect with Nature. It seemed that the desert held some wisdom for me. So, while I was in Las Vegas visiting, I was guided to seek out a “painted dessert”. I inquired around about such a thing that was nearby and discovered Red Rock Canyon.
Well, my students and I had a great field trip out there and hike. My student and friend Ravenn and I walked all around the hiking area in Red Rock Canyon. Some of the hike was scary because there was sharp downhill parts. Some of the hike was very difficult because there was steep climbs. There were some parts that we thought we could not conquer, but did. There were optical illusions all around us and at times we were confused as to where we were or how to get back to the car! Ravenn and I very much enjoyed ourselves and each others company. We would help each other up and down in difficult areas as needed. We were always laughing and encouraging each other that we could do it! The hike was beautiful, challenging and very enlightening!
Upon reflecting on my beautiful day in nature, I discovered the following was true. My hike at Red Rock Canyon was very similar to life! In life there are parts that feel like you are climbing Mount Everest and you feel like you never make it, just like the hike. There are other times in life when you feel confused and dazed over a sudden change or event and you don’t how you are going to get back to “normal”. Sometimes in life you feel like you are looking over the cliff and that you might just fall into a deep crevice with no way out! Always remember that your friends will always help you, all you have to do is ask for their help or encouragement! There is always a way out or a solution no matter how difficult the situation! Don’t forget to “share” your life with those around you, as they are a source of ideas, help and encourage for those challenging times.
There are other times in life when everything is beautiful, peaceful and serene. Those are the times when we say “AHHH, life is good!” The extreme beauty in life is sometimes very astounding and brings tears of joy! Life is sacred and is always good! Even in times of “high contrast” keep your sense of adventure close. Life is like a challenging hike, there are ups, downs, beauty and despair. Don’t forget to embrace them all as a big adventure! If wasn’t for those downs, then we wouldn’t be able to appreciate our ups as much. Without contrast in our lives there would be no joy or despair. So, get out there and embrace your situation, no matter what it is right now and make the most of it!
