It has recently dawned on me how many people harbor so much self hatred!! Then these self haters turn around and EXPECT a romantic relationship with another person to work out just fine! AMAZING!!

The old saying, “You must love yourself before you can truly love another.”, is so true. Stop and think about it, if you hate yourself and/or dislike who or what you see in the mirror, then how are you supposed to ever extend unlimited love outward towards another person. You can’t do it because you don’t have it to give. You must learn to accept and love yourself just the way you are. Just the weight you are, just how you are, imperfections and all.

Let’s get a dose of real here. NOBODY IS PERFECT!! We aren’t supposed to be! Chew on that one for a minute. You should view yourself as an unfinished work of art. You are in a constant state of change and improvement, but you are net yet done, so therefore imperfect or unfinished. This attitude leads us toward a healthy understanding of ourselves and adjusts some unrealistic expectations! I always say, “Expect nothing and that way everything is a great gift and there are no disappointments.” This attitude adjustment gives you room to accept and yes, love yourself. This is NOT selfishness, this is just a healthy dose of self love.

For instance you love yourself enough to take vitamins daily or work out. You love yourself enough to go the spa for a day or take in a massage. If you a serious problem spending money on yourself or caring for yourself in this way, then you have some homework to do!!

Which leads us to today’s exercise–Heart release:

Let’s sit up straight and tall on our chair. Breathe in deep and exhale, letting go of your day and stress. Breath in again and exhale, let go, let go. Breathe in white healing mist and hold a few seconds and then let go and exhale black, stress.

Now I want you to focus in on your heart, give it all of your attention. When you think about loving yourself what happens? When you think about buying yourself a $500 spa day to renew and relax yourself, what does that feel like? Do you experience physical pain in your heart, does it skip a beat. Do you get nauseated, feel stressed?

If these thoughts stress you out or make you feel uncomfortable, you have a self hate problem or body image problem. I want you to focus in on your pain or uncomfortable feelings. Now, try to get a picture of what they look like. Could be anything, there is no wrong. Now I want you to picture the color grass green. If you are unable to picture grass green, then try bubble gum pink. Now breathe in grass green or bubble gum pink into your heart area. The color contains unlimited Universal love and exhale your self hate image or feelings. One more time in color, out self hate. Again in with love and color and out self hate and negative feeling about yourself. AHHHHH feels good, don’t it?

Now look at yourself in the mirror and say: “I am worthy and capable of unlimited love. I accept myself, just the way I am. I am a work in progress!” Repeat three times with VIGOR.
