Staying Centered in Midst of Chaos
Posted in Meditation, Miscellaneous on 05/02/2009 09:42 pm by adminIt’s easy I stop, drop and breathe. Breathe deep into your lungs through your nose and exhale everything out through your nose. When you breathe in, your tummy should get big first before your chest does. When you breathe out, exhale from the top of your lungs down. This is known as a yogic breath. Do this at least 3 times. Slow your mind down and try to concentrate on the stillness between your thoughts. Now expand that stillness and make it bigger with each breath. Expand the stillness until it fills your entire mind.
Next concentrate on relaxing every single muscle in your body. With each breath another muscle lets go of the strands of tension. With each breath say the words Let Go! Still your mind again with each breath, expand on the stillness.
Now say the mantra, “I am in control of my day, I will remain centered and balanced. I am the eye of the storm and it swirls through me and around me. I am the calm, I am the peace.”
Another one I like to do is run a bath with some good smelling essential oils and Epsom salts in it and just float. The sense of weightlessness really calms me down FAST. Then do the mind clearing breathing exercise. It’s really hypnotic.
What do you do to calm and recenter yourself on a really busy day?
